Why Donate ? :Because research gets results. When the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) was founded in 1994, nearly 25 per cent of all women diagnosed with breast cancer died from the disease within five years of diagnosis. Over the past 25 years that survival rate has steadily improved. Now, 90 per cent of women are still alive five years post diagnosis. NBCF believes this achievement is due to research — the most effective way to improve the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer. Although progress is being made, there is still a long way to go. And we won’t stop until it is solved. NBCF is Australia’s leading national body funding game-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public. Since 1994, we’ve awarded more than $160 million to fund 514 Australian-based breast cancer research projects. This has led to: more effective therapies; a greater understanding of ways to stop breast cancer spreading to other parts of the body; and improved quality of life for patients and their families. NBCF funds research across the spectrum — from understanding the fundamental basis of this disease to develop better treatment options, to psychosocial research aimed at improving quality of life. NBCF is leading the way in many key areas of research. Much of the research that NBCF undertakes also helps other areas of cancer research. By making a donation today, you’ll be funding research to stop deaths from breast cancer. It’s not every day that you’re able to do something so amazing. Make today that day.
