For years tuberculosis (TB) has been the world's most deadly infectious disease. Only recently has Corona claimed this unenviable position. TB is still one of the major causes of preventable death in the world. It is unthinkable, but around 1.5 million people die every year of TB, among them 170,000 children. Every day at KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation we work together to achieve one goal: A world free of TB.
KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation has been fighting TB since its establishment in 1903. Since this time, the organization has acquired indispensable knowledge and experience in the field of effective TB control, resulting in pre-elimination in the Netherlands. However, whilst TB is in the world, it will also remain in the Netherlands. TB knows no borders! Having now established ourselves as the worldwide international expertise centre for TB control via the development and implementation of effective, efficient and sustainable specific strategies, our work enables TB patients receive a timely diagnosis and treatment. This accelerates the decline in infections and resistant forms of the disease and helps save lives
