Hi all,We are Kitty Yang and Yagna Dutta. Kitty will be running f3 Lake 1/2 marathon in Chicago. Besides following the regime of http://www.halhigdon.com/training/51132/Half-Marathon-Intermediate-Training-Program we have decided to do something bold to keep Kitty motivated. We would like to help Werkgroep Eindhoven Kobane (https://www.facebook.com/eindhovenfriends4syria/) by raising funds for HÎVÎ (means 'hope'), a school for handicapped children in the war-torn city of Kobane in Syria. We are committed to raise €1000 towards Hivi's goal of providing the school with electricity. We were reading about Kobani massacre (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koban%C3%AE_massacre) on Wikipedia after we got to know about Werkgroup in Eindhoven from a friend of Yagna, Sudeshna who works in Eindhoven and is directly in touch in the group in Eindhoven. We were deeply shaken by the human atrocities and we wanted to lend a hand within my abilities. We got to know about Constance van Dorp, one of the spearheads of the organization, through Sudeshna. Constance was drawn to the idea of helping Hivi when she visited Kobane twice in 2015. This was around the time when approximately 100,000 inhabitants of the city finally returned after almost a year of exile in Turkey. Meanwhile Kobane was thoroughly massacred by the ISIL militants. …Through internet crowdfunding, they are trying to buy the following things for Hîvî:1. An electricity generator worth 900 EUR since there are frequent power cuts duringschool hours2. Two laptops each worth 550 EUR, for educational purposes3. Screen projector worth 300 EUR, for showing documentaries and other educationalvideos.4. Two audio sets each worth 500 EUR, for accompanying laptops/projector screenwhen showing documentaries and other educational videos.5. A medical bed worth 200 EUR, since some of the kids require frequent medicalattention.6. Musical instruments, games, stationery, furniture worth around 500 EUR forclassroom activities. Please consider joining us to help reshape the childhoods of these kids. Please donate here and spread the message. Thank you,Kitty and Yagna
