Actions for charities can be conducted by a private individual or an organization. If it concerns private fundraising activities, the donations will be transferred to a personal IBAN number. Whydonate advises to support these actions only if the organizer is known.

With us everything is well organized. More than 1200 organizations, including some of the largest charities in the Netherlands, have already registered with Whydonate and have successfully received donations. For example, all the money from the donations comes in on a special third-party account and the entire administration is always checked by a registered accountant. He also ensures that everything is submitted to the tax authorities. The donations are kept strictly separate from all other cash flows within our organization. The amount and the relationship with the donor are matters that determine whether you should pay tax on your donation or not.

Short summary of the website of the tax authorities:

“Did you receive a donation in 2016? Or will you soon receive a donation? Then do a donation tax declaration if:

  • you received the gift from your parent (s) and this is higher than € 5.304
  • you received the donation from someone else and it is higher than € 2.122

Do you receive multiple donations in 1 year? Then you do not have to add these donations together if you receive them from different people.

There are 2 exceptions to this rule. Add the donations together if:

  • the donors or the recipients are partners
  • Do you want to know when donors or recipients are partners? Then go to the Partners page.
  • the donors are your parents, even if they are divorced

If the total amount exceeds € 2,122 (or € 5,304 for a donation from your parents), you must declare donation tax. ”

Tip: Do you doubt whether you should pay tax on the donations received? Then contact the tax authorities.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What information do I receive from my donors?” tab_id=”1517175468019-83d3859a-aeec”][vc_column_text]It is nice to know who donated to your action. That gives you the change to thank the donors for their donation and, if you like, keep them up to date with all kinds of facts regarding the action. The following information from the donors is passed on by Whydonate:

  • Name
  • E-mail
  • Payment method
  • Amount
  • URL page
  • Period
  • Time

This data can easily be filtered and exported as a CSV or PDF file.

Tip: Use the donor administration for the regular donors. So you can see at a glance who donates to your organization and what amount you can expect in the coming period. You will receive the donations that you have received around the 15th of the following month. The exact moment that the donations are credited to your account depends on your bank and whether or not the 15th falls into a weekend.

Example: Donations made in April 2018 will be paid by Whydonate around June 15, 2018. These will then be credited to your account no later than June 19, 2018.

Costs:

  • If donations have been made, Whydonate will keep 5% of this, plus € 9.95 per month.
  • Transaction costs will be charged per donation by Whydonate’s payment provider. The amount of these costs differ per payment method. The transaction costs are as follows:
iDeal €0,37
SEPA incasso €0,37
SEPA overboeking €0,37
Creditcard 2,4%
Paypal €0,30 + 3%
Bancontact €0,55
Sofort €0,37 + 1%
KBC/CBC €0,37 + 1%
Belfius Direct Net €0,37 + 1%
ING Home’Pay €0,37 + 1%

If you have created a page with a target amount, it is true that it does not appear directly in the Whydonate search results. In order to prevent pollution of the platform, these pages are only shown in the search results as soon as at least 10% of the target amount has been collected. The pages can of course be shared via social media and can be reached directly via the URL. This way we can give the serious campaigns more attention and have a greater chance of success.

All donations come in on a special third party account and are kept strictly separate from all other cash flows. A registered accountant has control over this. He also ensures that everything is properly registered with the tax authorities. Every month the donations are paid directly from the third-party account on which they come in to the goals for which they are intended. This makes Whydonate reliable and ensures a good Whydonate experience for everyone.
Tip: When you log into your Whydonate account you can see in real time all the donations that have been made to your goal, when that has happened and when they are paid out.
